Old school action movies

So here I am screwing around with my new iPhone. Watching what could be one if the coolest Kung-fu movies I have seen in a long time. It's called "The Bride with White Hair". So far it's had everything you expect to see in a kung fu movie. Good action, fun wire-work, and blood splatter are aplenty, but there is something more. It has a decent plot, good acting, an awesome villian (adult brother and sister Siamese twins!?), a chick that kills people with her hair and a couple boob shots (FYI that never happens!). Anyway. The movie is pretty awesome. Happy new year everyone!

Stealing lines

So I've been wondering around malls and such the last couple days since getting paid (finally) looking for essential presents for family. As I've been walking around I've been listening to my music pretty loud to drown out all the people and asinine holiday music. As I've been doing this I noticed that my perception of the location AND the task has altered depending on the music. Plus, I feel way cooler. That is all.

Holiday Cher

Ok so as usual...I think a lot more when I'm off than when I'm working. Maybe I should be working more. More working = less thinking. I think I might have found the way to alleviate depression in everyone in the world! Muhahah! I'll be rich! Oh wait...balls. That'll never work. Anyway...let's move on...

So I recently decided to go ahead and not sit idly by while I have something in my world that I want to STAY in my world. If I don't move in the next couple weeks I could very well keep that thing in my life just not in the place I want it. I want this thing in a very specific place. Like how one might want a really cool picture put in a really specific place in your house like above the fireplace. Man...there I go being cryptic again. Let's fix that shall we? Here we go: I have this girl who I think is awesome. Her name is Lindsey and I met her about a month and a half ago at a party Heather had at her place. They happen to know each other and she happened to invite her to a birthday a while ago. We more than hit it off. We literally talked all that night and until around 3 the next morning. We were talking so long that Jason went to bed and Heather was falling asleep infront of us. We went on a couple dates and then we had a REALLY long phone conversation in the middle of the night whose sole purpose was to make sure we didn't go any farther before we became good friends first. So...we went out a couple more times as friends and then she went total AWOL for three solid weeks. Talked to her a couple times on the phone and saw her once while she was working on her homework. Basically? She works WAY harder than anyone I have ever seen. I thought she was bullshitting me, but she was actually working the whole time. Astounding.

Anyway. She called me the very afternoon after she finished her final paper. We had dinner, had a great time, she came to my party and then we continued to flirt back and forth late into the night. The next day I saw a movie. Yeah...so it's lame but Yes Man changed my opinion about this situation. The plan...decided during the previously mentioned long ass late night phone conversation...was to wait for her to ask me out on a Wednesday. After seeing that movie and simply not being content to sit by and wait for life to pass me I decided to do something about it. Let's hope I don't cock it up.

City People

So last weekend Ted and I went to a party and I think we had very similar feelings about the whole thing. Let me start from the beginning.

So my friend just turned 30 and was having a party that I was invited to. I let Ted in on it 'cause I'm like that and then we went. It was interesting. Actually it was in uptown. Well...on Henderson. I'm not quite as hip as all that but I do assume that the area would probably be considered part of uptown. But really? Who cares...and that's kinda my point. We went down there thinking that we might need to dress up a little. So we did...wow...it was clear from the moment we stepped in there that we really didn't dress up enough. We're talking suits, ties, slacks, designer dresses. But where were we? We were across the street from a normal bar at a wine bar. Abnormal place? Not really. But definitely not a place you would normally find me in. Little too uppity. But I think that's also the point. All the people that we talked with were from down there or places like it. They weren't from the burbs like us. They were all city folk, and they ALL had completely different priorities in life. It was interesting. Their sense of humor wasn't like ours a lot of their pasts weren't like ours. They were very different. They liked being in the center of what they considered "the action". The center of their world wasn't just downtown it was this specific area of downtown. Which I thought was even more interesting considering that people from the burbs usually get a lot of flak for being enclosed in some kind of bubble. Really? A lot of those people seem to have been to a lot of places but only one or two really seemed to have actually learned anything from it. I found that kinda sad. The vast majority were married...and I mean VAST. Also, over half of them were lawyers presently or in the past...and literally all of them were making serious bank. I can almost guarantee Ted and I were the lowest earners in that place and the only one that might have been close left at 9. I was really out of my element. I mean...I stayed the entire time and talked to everyone and really did have a good time, but something was off. Not only was something off but I discovered something about myself that I didn't know: I'm not a city person. I thought I was this whole time but I just wasn't. But that begs a different question.

Am I more loathsome because I'm a suburbanite? What really makes me different? I mean..I DON'T want to be a pretentious git who doesn't think anyone or anything cool could possibly originate outside of their neighborhood. I don't want to double-check someone's income before I ask them out on a date. I don't want to EVER consider 20 minutes to work a god-offal commute. I don't know. Something to think about I guess. Anyway...it's REALLY late. I'm getting uppity, and I have a repair man coming in a couple hours. Sigh...I guess my Epiphany about Yes Man will just have to wait for another time.

Lonely evening

Ok...so I had nothing to do again tonight. This seems to be escalating. I managed to only get one person on the horn (I'm not counting you E...thanks for calling!) and they didn't want to do anything. A couple others I tried to contact and nothing came of it. I find myself watching "I want someone to eat cheese with" and Sarah Silverman, though hot, was a total jerk to this dude and effectively used him. Didn't help. Bored bored bored. I think there was an issue with today. Today was "let's push Tommy's buttons day". I don' t know how that works exactly. Pushing my buttons really doesn't come up very often but lately it has. It's like the game that I was playing earlier today...Shadow of the Colossus...my buttons are like those fucking runes. There are only a couple of them but when that little fucking guy climbs up my skull and finds that little thing and jams a sword in it, it drives me fucking crazy! Not everyone knows what their buttons are or where to find them, so I consider myself blessed that I do. Let's discuss so that everyone knows and can NOT jam swords in them....and because I have nothing else to do right now...

-I absolutely can't stand it when people are cryptic or evasive when I ask them a straight question. Example: "Hey whatca doing tonight?" "Can't hang out tonight." "Oh that sucks...but whatca doing?" "Stuff" "Right...stuff...catch you later?" "Yup" "Awesome...sigh..."

-Being who I am I'm always rather concerned about my friends. I always want them to be ok and I would bend over backwards just to help them out. I also always know when something's wrong. These things combine to make a large percentage of my friends avoid me like the plague when something is actually wrong. They won't answer the phone they won't return messages, emails, etc. Can't get them to come hang out. This is really annoying. I think it's more annoying because how I am probably isn't going to change "care less about your friends Tommy...I mean sure...no one else probably noticed shit was going down with them but still...they'll probably be fine...probably" Not. Going. To. Happen. But this situation happens. And I hate it.

-Being lied to and having things kept from me. I'm usually pretty good about seeing through lies and I'm pretty good about seeing when someone knows something. This doesn't make this button harder to push. When there's something going down and someone bold face lies to me about it. Wow...superfly TNT.

-Already talked about not returning phone messages/emails/texts a couple months ago but that still gets my goat, but only when done consistently or in quick succession.

-Being lead on. In any kind of relationship if someone doesn't like me or doesn't think things are going well? Don't just not talk to me or not call...just fucking tell me! I'll go away! I promise! I'm a fucking adult! Maybe you should try it!? I'm talking to a large group of people that don't read this blog. My renters, my prospective renters, people I date, etc. Seriously though? I fucking hate dating.

Hmmm....I'm getting worked up. I need to end this post right here. Unfortunately several of you have started keeping an eye on this blog again. That means you might think I've lost my mind. I'm here to assure you that I'm just ranting in cathartic fashion. Speaking my thoughts on this subject make them real and make them into something tangible. Something I can stare at and think about without being consumed. I don't know...maybe I should stop caring about my friends so much. Or maybe I need a straight up friend purge. That would be interesting. Has anyone ever done that? It's when you stop calling all current and older friends and vow only to actively call people you meet from that point forward. Sure you ACCEPT calls from those old friends but you never call them. Now that I think about it...several people I can think of right now seem to already be doing that...I should call them and find out how it's going. Wonder if they would answer... ;) All jokes aside. Time for sleep. Later Internets! Can't wait to be viewing you on my iPhone...eventually.

Sueridge

Wow...mental note...never say I had a shitty weekend until I actually get through the entire thing. It would seem that the fates conspired against me yet again. I was talking to Mike on the phone (sorry for cutting it short man) and as I'm walking up to my house I see that someone had been watering. Watering? We almost had a freeze last night. Why would someone be watering? I looked over at the outdoor faucet and noticed that it was still where I left it which was to say unhooked from the hose. However...I DIDN'T leave it 3 inches deep in water as I found it now. Fuck. This was NOT someone watering. Something else was afoot. Actually it wasn't a foot it was a bunch of poop. My sewerage had backed up. Seriously? Fuck.....Fuck fuck fuck. I called dad and basically? Big deal. And if it's more than just a backup? HUGE deal. Like tear up the front yard huge deal. The irony? This house and I were meant for each other. Both our digestive tracks are prone to clogging. :)

BTW my grandmother used to always say sewerage particularly phonetically. I'll never forget that about her. I hope I'm remembered for something more meaningful.

Bored bored...boared?

Ok so this last weekend...well...I guess I mean this weekend but considering all I have left is a workout and half my laundry to do I don't think there's really much more to it. Man...ANYWAY...this weekend was pretty fucking boring. I mean REALLY boring. Sure I had Ted and Dave to hang out with but my house was REALLY fucking cold as the heater is all but broken and I couldn't get the place above 65, but still. Boring. We really didn't do anything. Didn't go to any movies. Didn't hang out with anyone else but ourselves. Erin left town Thursday never to return. The chick I've been "dating" has been working on two 20 page papers all week long and has been almost entirely incommunicado. Heather worked all weekend long. Amanda and Matt were busy...building virtual furniture. Man...I might be introverted but Jesus! Sometimes I just wanna hang out with some people and get the fuck out of my house! But that didn't happen this weekend. At least next weekend I have a party to go to...then again I have no idea what to do with my hair...

The house is all but done by the way. For those of you that saw it for the party a couple Wednesdays ago you saw it at it's best. I stayed up until 4am doing nothing but cleaning. It was great! Now if I could only get some more roommates in here so I don't have to eat only rice for the next couple months that would be great too! And I need to get my pictures up...at this point almost every wall is blank. That makes things kinda boring. Oh! My shower works perfectly and drains like a dream! I never thought that would excite me but man! It sure is awesome to have a shower that you never how to worry about someone's hair gumming it up. And it's not even a tub! I HATE tub showers...I don't take baths so there's a lot of wasted space. But not in my shower! It's all shower! Man...I'm WAY too excited about my shower...

Anyway...I'm going to go check on my laundry..I'm waiting for my workout clothes to come outta there so I can leave...but considering I now have less than an hour and a half I should probably just go.
