I Hate International Get-Drunk Day...

Nope...no cryptic heading today. This post is going to be all about how much I hate New Years Eve. Hold on...let me put out a disclaimer.

*****Today's post is going to be me venting about how much I hate alcohol and it's international holiday: New Year's Eve. If you find Alcohol intrinsically "Fun" or you can't consider anything a "Party" unless there's alcohol there to use then this post will not be for you. Further reading will only get you more and more angry with me as you read...so...it you can't abstain from alcohol for anything longer than a year...please abstain from this post. Thank you. You have been warned.*****

It's been almost a year since I felt any anxiety about alcohol. Just so you all know. I have watched people drink it, watched people get drunk, drink in my apartment, you name it. I haven't cared for a long time. That's a significant improvement for those of you who know me. But for those of you who don't, let me put it into perspective. A while ago when I was just out of highschool a good handfull of unpleasant things happened to me. I won't go into detail but let's just say that if alcohol and cigarettes weren't in the picture I would still have my aunt and my uncle, a sane mother, and a heart that had never been maliciously broken...and I would have something happy to remember from my first year of college. Needless to say, that scars a person. So...shortly into my freshman year of college I decided I was going to be Straightedge. I met a band that turned me on to the idea and I have stuck with it since then. Well...just so you all know...that's been a relatively long time. Since then the band broke up, some of them ended up back in rehab, and none of them are straightedge anymore. But that's another story. As the years progressed a couple of ladies came into my life and became good friends of mine. They basically made the rest of my college years a lot of fun. well...the next two years of my college anyway. At the time they didn't drink and we always had a blast. It was really fun. All the time.

That changed of course as it always does and I was back to being the only person I knew that didn't drink, smoke or do drugs. I'm really not trying to be melodramatic...but it was pretty lonely.

Anyway...long story...less long: I would have mini-anxiety attacks when the subject of drugs (of any kind including alcohol) would come up involving people around me. I just didn't understand it. They would get themselves into trouble, alter the courses of ther lives, hurt themselves and others, do and say things they REALLY shouldn't be doing or saying....like at all. But all the while they never stopped...never turned it down a notch....nothing. To this day I still don't understand. BUT! As of about 11 months ago I finally got my attacks under control. Perfectly in my grasp. "Ok great tommy...so what's the problem then?" Well...I've been under an incredible amount of stress lately, I've had very little time to myself or with kelley, there has been an abnormal amount of drinking going on around me...AND it's almost my most stressful holiday of the year...my defenses have finally broken down. Everyone has been on vacation for the last two week and some of them have gone out drinking almost every night since the break started. So...I was doing fine most of the last two weeks. I was blocking it out like I had trained myself to but then about wednesday of this week I started to lose control of my anxiety. Then it began to compound with my stress at work and the chink in my armor had been breached and the whole suit began to come apart.

Basically I'm using this post to see if I can vent off a little stress about New Years before it gets here...if I have another attack Kelley will...well...let's just say she would be more mad than I have ever seen her. So...Anyway...I was going to talk about International Get-Drunk Day (today by the way) but I don't know if it really needs the attention I have been giving it all day in my head. I just think it's a fucking stupid holiday. And I mean that in the most viscious way possible. It's boiled down to being literally THE DAY everyone in the world (except myself and some people in india or something) gets drunk and does some really stupid ass bullshit that they can never take back and will regret for the rest of their lives. But they can always blame the alcohol so it's ok. Fucks! God damn I hate today. It brings me such stress!! I worry about the guys driving home when they shouldn't be (which they will!), I worry about kelley getting drunk and getting mad at me, I worry about people getting hurt. I just...god...I just...wish I wasn't so alone. I think that's really all it is.

Kelley has been going out to bars a lot lately. With the guys and without me. fuck...she's literally been out at bars these last two weeks more than she's been with me. I just makes me sad...anyway...I can see that this really isn't helping and that it's just making it worse. Maybe I should stay home tonight. I don't know what I'm going to do...maybe I'll start working on a new suit of armor...I fucking hate new years eve...

Happens to Everyone

Hey everybody. I'm not dead, nor am I fired...yet...on both counts. I've been really busy doing stuff...playing games actually. Games and working. That's literally the only things I have been doing since Christmas. Before Christmas I was shopping frequently and trying not to stress out completely about work. Now? I'm still stressing out every day and I still come home completely worn-out. Meds still working great. I need a haircut though. Badly. I just bought food for the apartment about 2 days ago so don't think that I'm lying about not being able to post. I really wish I was a full-time student again. Kelley and all the guys are all off work this month so they have all been hanging out together. Meanwhile? Yeah...I'm fucking tired and don't have time to do much hanging out, I'm too busy trying (and I stress trying) to de-stress with video games. It's working well but I have a lot of stress from work coming down the pipe and not much time to play games....soooo...I'm having a little trouble maintaining equilibrium with the stress. Anyway...I hate to come back and bitch. So I won't. There's really not any ground breaking news hitting the streets and I don't have the energy anyway so no bullets today. Sorry. The updates are going to remain spotty till I get bills and work under control. That's just the way it is.

I'm now playing World of Warcraft. My name is Cerif (big surprize there!) and I'm a human paladin. I'm 14th level and I'm hanging out in loch modan in the dwarven lands at the moment. I'm in the Khadgar server ( I think) so put me on the friends list and shoot me a line if you see me come online! :) Oh...and It's all the blast that I thought it would be. WoW is...well...totally awsome. I haven't subscribed to a MMORPG since that crazy thing sierra did back in the early 90's, I.N.N. Don't ask me what it stood for...I don't remember, but if you have the cash and you have a computer at spec for the game (which really isn't high...really...) you owe it to yourself to play this game.

I also have a Nintendo DS now. After playing it through all my lunch hours this week I have to say that I really think the system is going to go places. I have beaten Feel the Magic (which is a MUST BUY in my opinion!) and I'm still playing it to unlock stuff, and I've gotten about 25 stars in mario 64....which is also a totally awsome game. I got even more games for christmas but I'm not going to go into it because my parents spent too much money on us (kelley, my sister and myself) and actually I'm rather embarassed about it. I'll have a full review later. At this point? Not a total replacement for my GBA-SP but the available functionality inherent in the game is uncanny. I'm dying to see what developers can do with this system. Win for Nintendo!

BUT! The gift Kelley got me really takes the cake this year. I don't have to time to talk about it now but most of you should know about it...since you've been keeping it from me for a while now. Nicely done by the way! Kelley took pictures and I'll post them here when she takes a break from the month long party long enough to email them to me.

Anyway...I better wrap this up and get back to work. I have a consumer coming in 20 minutes and he is really going to stress me out. I have to get ready.

The Axe

Hey. Two second post. I'm out for a while. Work is taking everything I have these days. That and last minute shopping. They are firing people left and right and they promised that I was going to be one of them if I didn't shape up. I'm really just too down right now to talk. I'll be back later though. No ETA...just not today.

I'm thinking....No...

Hey everyone. I got a 95 on my final. I was hoping for more, but considering the day I had yesterday I was just glad to get an "A". It's a very long story. I'm really not going to get to far into it...but then again I am going to get into it a little. That is what this blog is for. How about we just list the crap I delt with yesterday? Right. Well...my boss was fired yesterday. Out of the blue and just packed up and walked out. No goodbyes no nothing. Just fired. Then the owner of the company and his fucking lackey talked to us during our regular meeting time. Passed the buck on a lot of questions and basically tried to make it look ok. I didn't care. When the meeting was essentially over one of our counselors kept asking FUCKING INNANE questions for another 15 minutes. You would think that someone with a masters degree would just be able to shut the fuck up for a second. Anyway...I was just annoyed at the time.

So much for lists. Sorry. Bad day. Really...

Then I took a very troubled consumer to a Dr. visit. We sat in the lobby for over 2 and a half hours. We had a 2:45 appointment. We didn't leave until 5:20...I stopped caring because I was already over an hour late to my final. Yeah...it was a bad day. Busted into the final and finished it off in 15 minutes and came out with a 95. Not bad. Now I had to bust over to my sister's birthday party. First picking up kelley (yes...I went most of the way home to do that...from school) and then drove into downtown to eat at joe Willy's. ok place...but it just didn't hit my stomach right. Came back home and played 2 hours of Beyond Good and Evil to try and calm down. It worked...I was back in good spirits. Issues brought me down shortly after. Couldn't sleep so I got up and sat in the frontroom and read. That worked. Went to sleep. I did wake up pissed the next morning so yeah...didn't start the day right. No dish washer still, not washer and dryer still, fridge still broken. Those fucks better get off their asses there at the complex before I bust a plasma charge in their ass! Anyway. Had a frustrating morning on the phone and then the day got better. But then after cashing in a BIG favor at gamestop to get a DS on hold...my mom says she doesn' t have time to get it. Awsome. I pull a huge favor with Gamestop and my mother decides she doesn't have time. Totally awsome. I could really care less if she doesn't want to get it for me for christmas, but insisting that I continue checking the gamestop and then after pulling a favor...man...just puts me right back to the level I was at yesterday. 4 hours of sleep doesn't help either.

Empty shells!
And I'm outta here for the day.

Bottlecaps and Pulltabs

well...got turned down for the job. It's a really long story that I have retold several times today so I'm going to spare you the details because I have to get back to studying. Basically there was a huge mix-up and the job was already filled. On a possitive note they said that they really wanted to work with me and that they would be calling me soon. That and they said that they have a letter of intent for me to work for them in August teaching German. So...my whole attitude for the day has been: "well...I'm disappointed but I'm still better off than I was last week!" So things are going well. But let me get to the Bullets here real quick so I can go back to my final.

Both Barrels!
Anyway...like I said, I have a big final tomorrow and I need to study. So...I'm going to go and get to that. Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone!

Release Lever and Pull String

Hey everyone. Still no news but here I am again for the second day in a row! I guess I should be working on my final exam but man...I just don't feel like it right now. I really need to get motivated. On that note! I think I'll go hit the pharmacy and see if I can get the new medication tonight. Well...had my interview. It went really well and I think that they are going to hire me. I just don't know what for quite yet. There were a lot of things floating around that I could get my hands on. Basically, regular english, IB psychology, and the entire german department. All of them are up for grabs... I just have to see what they are going to offer me. I sure hope it's something awsome....but then again there's really nothing more awsome than NOT MY CURRENT JOB! So...it's basically a win-win situation. I'm a little nervous and by "a little nervous" I mean a LOT nervous. But I think this will be a good choice for me and that it will work out in the long run. Anyway...I sure hope that kelley calls me soon so that I can get outta here, get back, and start working on my last final exam. It's going to be easy but I really want to get it out of the way and just be done for the semester. I'm hoping that they offer me the job and start paying me right away...I mean...i KNOW they won't be doing that be there's still hope! Anyway...I'm really getting outta here this time. I'll talk to you guys later! Wish me luck!

Poke it. Poke it! POKE IT!

well...I've been out of contact for an unusually long time haven't I. I've decided to kill the news until a later date considering that it's really what takes so damn long with these posts. Expect them to resume after this thursday. It's the day of my last final. Until then you WILL get posts every day you just won't get news. I really think that it's going to work out better this way.

Tommy Bullets!

Anyway...that's what's going on with me. Nothing much to report other than that. Right now I have to take a shower and get my suit out for tomorrow. It's a 7:30 am apointment...fun fun!

Chivalry

I vow to see over half of these movies before my next semester of school starts! I will make valiant attempts to go out and see at least one of these every week. There...I said it.

Primer

House of Flying Daggers
Bad Education
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Spongebob Squarepants: The Movie
A Very Long Engagement

Wish me luck. By the way...you're more than welcome to join me just call if you want to come to one of those. Especially those of you that will be in for the holidays. Oh...and I finished my desk and got my computer completely set up on it. My desk is totally awsome. You can expect a full update before tomorrow evening. I have a project to do tonight so there's a good chance that I won't be able to get one out. Maybe for a break from work...we'll see.

Red Staples!

Ok...things are still going crazy around here. I really expected them to be done by now but they aren't. I'm really sorry. There is a very good chance that there isn't going to be a real update for today. I have all the news lined up and it's ready to go but I just need some time on my hands before I can do a real update. Doing the Christmas tree with my family tonight and I have to get a start on my group project despite a sick partner...oh...and I have class till 7. Here's hoping that the teacher is a slacker and just calls it the last day and everyone goes home. God...I hope that's what happens because I just don't have the time in my evening for everything that needs to get done. Anyway...there might be an update later tonight after I get a desk for my room and god comes down from heaven and grants me an extra 5 hours for today because I'm a good boy. Anyway...besides devine intervention...please continue to expect spotty updates till the semester is over. Thank you for your time.

Coming Up For Air

Hey everyone. Nope...semester isn't over yet. I just got back to work and thought that I would update you all on how things are going. Ya know a little while ago when I said that I would be updating daily. Well...that will remain true with two exceptions, and those exceptions will of course be finals, and reason. Reason? yeah...when I'm really really busy you won't see anything here, but you will probably get a warning. Obviously this weekend was entirely taken up my moving and doing a final exam. The exam wasn't hard but the moving really took a long ass time to finish. I'm really not done but the essentials are in place...you know...the entertainment center, the internet, the bed...ya know...the essentials. On that note I'm going to tell you a funny story about something that happened this weekend. I was working on the cabling for the internet. I didn't think that it would take me very long so I just popped in for a second to set it up. Well...it ended up taking me significantly longer than I had anticipated. So...as my body is want to do on occasion I had to go to the little boy's room...strike that..."men's room Mikey, men's room"...well...I was sitting there doing my business and then I realized that I didn't have any toilet paper...yup...I hadn't moved the toilet paper in yet. I chalked this up to never having actually moved into a situation where there wasn't TP already provided (school, europe, etc). So...what did I do? I called Dan (yes...on the john)...maybe he was on his way over. He was and, believe it or not, had TP in his hand already and was on his way to the car. He ragged me a little bit about forgetting...but all in all it was just a funny experience. Thought I would share.

I had some major cabling difficulties this weekend. I managed to run cables for internet in both rooms but since I decided to get CAT6 cables for the apartment I was having a little trouble making the ends for the cables. Yeah...I'm not the most adept at making cables so after a round of trial and error I finally looking up how to do it on the internet. All the ends took about 3 hours. CAT6 ends are NOT the same as CAT5...but when I'm ready to hit the gigabit internet I'll have all the cable I need...AND I'll know how to end them! Now all I need is a gigabit router...that would be nice...BUT I DID get a 100Base-T router for 29 bucks though. That will make things a lot faster between computers than I'm used to at home. Oh...and for all of you following along at home I'll still have Mr. Stitch and I'll be hooking him up to the network too just for shits and giggles. That would mean that dan and I are going to have at least 2 fully functional gaming PC's connected to the network and dan's PC SHOULD suffice for a number of applications after I get the 1170 instances of spyware off his computer. This is not a joke. He really had that many...that's the highest I've ever seen in my life. I'm going to have to keep that fucker clean...I don't want Twenty Black getting sick because dan is all over the internet without protection. Anyway...besides dan's internet promiscuity I'm doing fine and things are starting to calm down over here. I just have to get some sheets, a desk, a lamp or two, and all my bathroom stuff today and that should cover my bases for the next week or so...or at least until finals are over. Take it easy guys. I miss talking with you all.

The Ties That Bind...Binding Is Bad...

Hey...quick update but with news this time. You know how it is when I don't have time to update. one day you get a big news day and another day you get a big post day...it balances out. Anyway...paper is halfway through and I just got a whole bunch of stuff pilled on top of my things to do list. Oi...have to have a degree plan fully realized and written out for tomorrow after class, have a paper and at least 2 hours of homework due FOR class, have to re-write my resume by friday, have to MOVE OUT (and the mountain of work that intails) this weekend, have a take home exam that WON'T be easy due tuesday, have a class group project due next thursday, and have another final exam the thursday after that. The next couple of weeks are going to be hellish to say the least. Anyway on with the bullets!

Bullets. (not that exciting today so no exclamation point)
and that's all I've got...I'm toast. You might not hear from me tomorrow at all or at least until late in the evening. I really have a lot of work to do. Now...back to my real job.
