30 Years Of Joy For The Kiddies
Hey...no time to talk today. I have another paper to do and I should get away from my desk long enough to eat something and then get me a slurpee and then hit the game store so that I can get mike and Erin's presents. Anyway...the paper shouldn't be that hard to do but I'm thinking that there's going to be a lot of me doing my thing...looks like I'll be spending the last two nights that I'll have at my house actually IN my house. This paper is going to take me down to the wire and I need to be there as late as I can be. That and I think it's kind of appropiate that I stay there the last two nights...I'm all kinds of sentimental like that. The bed I spent most of the last 16 years of my life in and the room I spent most of the last 21 years of my life in. It's weird to finally leave for good. Most of the people that I know that have left their houses they kind of did it out of spite and desire to be seperate from their parents. Not me...I'm very close to my parents...my dad cried when I told him that I was moving out for pete's sake! I'm doing this primarily because it needs to be done. I'm 26...and in my book that's pretty fucking old, and also in my book next to that age is the statement "needs to be the FUCK out of his parent's house...especially if he has a girlfriend". Anyway...this is just kinda weird for me. I need to move out but I really don't see the reason other than the NEED. It's very strange. I'm excided, scared and sad all at the same time. We'll see what the future holds...as always...

Slog-On My Friends...Slog-On!
ok I'm back! Kelley told me all about the weekend and the totally awsome party that I missed last week. I really feel bad for missing the party, I would have loved to have been there....and thanks to all of you for showing Kelley a good time at the party. She said that it was the most fun she had in a long time. Thanks a lot. With a special thanks to the two Mikes...you know who you are. Anyway...spent a lot of time with my family in atlanta. Believe it or not I actually spent all of friday on the couch. I shit you not...I woke up and just basically moved around the living room and never left the house. I really wish that I was here and spending my much needed down time with my friends, but at least I'm 20 hours closer to beating Ogre Tactics....and I got to see "The Saw" with my sister. Predictable and kinda lame...but much less so than my family. All jokes aside I really enjoyed seeing them and getting to talk to my aunt. I hear from my dad that she doesn't have much time left (Lyme Disease) so it's really good that we get to see her when she's feeling ok. She wanted to know if I wanted to buy her car....can't decide...it's kinda weird thinking about buying someone's car who's about to die. Yup...I think my entire weekend can be nicely sumed up by this: relatives I missed, GBA SP love, saw The saw, no showers, big-woods roaches, and family. yea!
Obviously a lot of shit happened in the news this week...but frankly I just don't have to time to do it all up nice and tight for you. You're just getting the highlights from the last couple of days. Sorry...there's just too much news out there to get everything so here's the interesting shit...

- It would seem that after the release of the Nintendo DS they felt the need to celebrate their wildly successful launch by purchasing a couple more shares of the Mariners. Actually not just a couple of shares...enough shares to make them the controling share holders. That's right Nintendo owns the Seattle Mariners now.
- Retailers and Sony themselves are anticipating a really sad showing of the PSP launch. Check out the news on the extreme shortage of PSP's for launch.
- Miyamoto confirmed last week that Mario 128 will be coming to the Gamecube. No date, no details. Just confirmation.
- Sony confirmed that the PS3 will not be coming to market till at least 2006. As far as I'm concerned this is totally awsome. I'm just not itching for this generation of consoles to be over quite yet.
- There is now a patch available for Half-Life 2. It will fix stuttering issues on all ATI machines. If you have an Nvidia card then be ready for the patch to hit later this week. All you have to do is restart steam to get the patch.
- Right before I left last week Nintendo released some Screens for Mario Baseball. It looks pretty fucking cool so I'm thinking that this could come out whenever and I would probably show an interest in baseball games again. Not that I ever had one.
- There were some problems related to the release of World of Warcraft last week so in response Blizzard has extended the free trial period for people that had problems. Isn't that nice of them!
- Not really news but certainly is interesting: Blurb with links hacking the Nintendo DS.

What's In A Name?
Hey. I might have mentioned this earlier in the week, but I'm going to Atlanta to be with my grandparents for Thanksgiving. They aren't doing so well so I'm going to take a break from life and make sure and give them their appropiate due. I hope that all of you have a good thanks giving. Really...I do. I want you all to sit around your dinner tables and look at the people that are in your life and be thankful for them. All of them. You never know when they are going to leave you, and you never know what kind of hole they are going to leave in your life when they are absent. Be thankful for all the friends and family in your life that really love you. That would do anything for you, just because you're you. Don't take that for granted...at least for one day.

- It would seem that World of Warcraft went live today. Enjoy it guys! Get back to me if you shell out the money to get online. Maybe I'll join you!
- Wow...this one is pretty cool. Ok...so some of you might know that it's pretty easy to crack a game in general. Well...since Valve (the people that made Half-Life) hold all the cards on their games these days through online validation every time you load up the game, they are taking it upon themselves to kill the accounts of people that have hacked their game. I truly have to commend them for killing 20,000 Steam accounts (not a typo!). Way to go!
- It would seem that there's a patch in the works for Half-Life 2. Just so you know this is not a rumor and it should be ready this week. It will only be fixing a couple of minor things but if you know anything about Valve they are all about polish!
- There's obviously an abundance of HL2 news today. One more for ya: there's a HL2 versus DOOM3 article out there...it's pretty funny but the server is getting raped so good luck finishing the whole article in one sitting.
- Last for the day: there's a Q&A for Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion over at IGN. It's full of other crap that you have already heard before but it's still cool.

Harnessing the Best of Childhood to Obtain Maximum Adulthood
Hey everyone. I think the title for today really sums up my goal in life. Yup...so don't be suprised if you see that as the new catch phrase of the website sometime soon. All in all it's been a freaking horrible day. I mean...I handle horrible days pretty damn well by nature but this one is just the pits. Ok...just to clarify my underlying situation: my job is naturally stressful and overall "bad" therefore intrinsically my days are bad. Today however is worse. Check this out. So...I was working on my car all weekend right? right. Basically rebuilt the entire left rear brake system and them mostly rebuild the right rear. So...finishing up the two-day job, I finger tight all the nuts on the last wheel and lower it to the ground...well...I never went back and tightened all the nuts. So on my way to kelley's house I notice that "something" is feeling a little weird back there. Get to her house and find that I'm now MISSING a nut and all the others are about to fall off. Basically if I had taken the highway I would have died because my fucking wheel would have fallen off...in the rain. So...lesson? I'm an idiot. So after driving around the rest of the evening I find out that my wheel just isn't going to stay on for any length of time. So I bust out all the shit that I had already put away and then put it in my passanger seat. Tighten my nuts at every stop. Fuck.
Moving on to this morning: I woke up specifically so that I could get to the Nissan store (the nuts for my wheels are very expensive and unique to my car) and buy a new nut. Not a problem. I go out to the car and start to put the nut on. It gets really tight WAY before it should so I try and get it off....it won't come off. Awsome. So I try a little harder knowing full well what's about to happen and sure enough: it does. My stud sheers right off stud tip stuck in nut. Six dollar nut useless 5 minutes after buying it. More work on my car in my near future AND it starts to rain on me...hard. I pack all my shit up jack my car down and head to work. Yup...not even at work yet. Well...it only gets marginally worse. When I get to work I manage to lock my keys in my car with the radio on. Awsome....did I mention that it was still raining?? yeah...and that was just the beginning of my day.

- Looks like the first expansion for Sims 2 is coming down the pipes. It's going to be called Sims 2: University. Could be pretty cool. Read on.
- The final information about World of Warcraft pricing is online. It still looks to be a little too pricey for my tastes but we'll see. If someone else gets on then maybe I'll sucumb as well. There's another video for WoW out there too. fyi.
- Lik Sang did one of their Infamous "cracked-open" reviews for the Nintendo DS. It's pretty interesting. You should check it out.
- There's a review for Pirates! over at IGN. It would seem that they like it. Good. I wish I had time to play it or for that matter money to buy it.
- anandtech.com has been one of my favorite hardware sites for a really long time. They recently posted part 2 of their two part series on performance benchmarks for most video cards on Half-Life 2. Check it out and see that you TOO can run this marvel of pc gaming on your pc. I promise. Part 1 and Part 2.

Take Five Everybody!
Hey...I'm taking a break from Half-Life 2 to write this short weekend update. Nothing really in the news department for this weekend...oh WAIT! That's right...the Nintendo DS came out today! HOOOOOWW could I have forgotten abou that??!! Ok...I'm not good at getting people to understand that I'm being sarcastic over the internet....sorry. Yup! The DS came out today and just like the launch titles of the GBA there really aren't any that really shine too much. That's kinda sad really. The best game that the reviewers seem to like at this time is Super Mario 64 DS. This is also the one that I want so it's really not that big of a suprise. Basically...I'm not going to give you any real suggestions for what to buy. The reviews are all over the place for all the games. Some really slanted opinions are floating around and you best bet for picking a game to ask for this christmas is once again to his GameRankings. They remain the best place to get a good over view of what's out there and what all the reviewers think of it. All-in-All I'm really excited and I'm not very happy about waiting the MONTH to get my hands on my own. Ugh.
Most of the weekend was sadly devoted to my car. I had a lot of work to do on the rear brakes. But it's all done now. It took two days BUT I have to say one thing: you guys remember the incessant clacking from my back brakes? yeah...gone. It's really weird considering that they have been clacking for 6 years now. Weird. Anyway...my hands are raw and my muscles hurt. We had a lot of work to do. And then it rained on us yesterday so we had to stop for the day. Joy. I hate it when entire weekends are taken up by working on the car.
Kelley and I got out of the house on friday and hung out at mockingbird station downtown. I'll be god damned if that place isn't totally cool to hang out at! Nothing really to say about that other than we had a really good time and will be going back. Then last night we went out and saw Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason. It was about as good as the origional. If you liked the first, see the second.
Then today I was working on Ed's computer and playing HL2 in between load times. But all in all boring day. Want to see the Sponge Bob movie...yeah...

What Are You Doing To Change That?
Well...I'm going to be very busy this weekend doing "me" stuff so you aren't going to get very hefty updates. Enjoy the relative silence and the over-abundance of news.

Sawblade!
- This is for my friends that are all into linux. Half-Life 2 is coming to a linux box near you.
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for the playstation 2 is now in stores.
- The World of Warcraft Beta is now over. If you still have the game on your system I suggest you delete it because if you didn't notice it's over 4gigs of space. Just so you know.
- There are several updates for Halo 2 that are available through Live at this time. The latest unlocks a hidden map! Turn on your boxes and get to fraggin!
- Just in case any of you have been playing HL2 and want to thank the creator here is his email address: gaben@valvesoftware.com. He happily accepts emails and mostly replies to them.
- There are a very small percentage of people that have been having trouble with HL2 crashing and all that...well...valve is on top of it and have come out with a solution. If you restart steam it updates itself and if you then hit the links in the article if fixes the problem.
- If would seem that Grand Tourismo 4 won't be here for the holidays. Sorry guys. It's actually going to just miss the holidays. Maybe you could talk your parents into getting it for you after christmas?
- It would seem that my love for Sam Rami is decreasing. Yeah..it's going to remake the masterpiece Evil Dead, and he won't even be directing it.
- There are three more rather haunting DS commercials on TV at this time. You can find them over at IGN to stream for free. Weird.
- It would seem that there's going to be a TV tuner hitting the market soon after the DS's release. It will plug into the GBA slot on the System....haven't decided what I think about this.
- Last but most certainly not least for today is a warning coming directly from Sony. There is a demo disk floating around and readily available to the public that deletes everything off the memory card in slot 1. This is bad. Very bad.

Just Like 12 Years Ago
So anyway...I went to Gamestop yesterday and played the DS. I have several comments but not all of them are good. The damn thing "handles" like a dream. The touch screen is VERY responsive. I played a little Metroid : Hunters - First Hunt, and let me tell you. The control was sensitive enough and intuitive enough to say that if Nintendo plays their cards right they have one hell of a First Person Shooter machine on their hands. It was really easy to control the aim and really easy to move around. It really was like I was playing on my computer. Except for one thing. The graphics are definately below "top-notch"...this is not a good thing. I haven't quite decided if it's going to be a bad thing or not though. Considering that Metroid hunters is just a demo I really want to get my hands on a final game at this point. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the demo was just the beginning and that developers can push much more out of that hardware. Here's me keeping my fingers crossed. The graphics aside it was much lighter than I thought it would be and on top of that the construction felt sturdy, which I didn't expect. All in all I'm severely impressed. And on that note there should be a demo of the system in every game store and in every store that sells electronics. You owe it to yourself to go and check it out and post your impressions in the comments section.
As to Half-Life 2. I am enjoying it beyond measure. The level design is akin to nothing I have seen before. The beauty inherent in the game is something impossible to take for granted. It basically performs, looks and sounds just like you would think the real world would in a game. It's not perfect...but it's about the closest I have ever seen. I realize that these words are very big. I don't know what else to say other than: It's the truth...check it out for yourself. And on that note the game itself runs flawlessly on even Dx7 cards. Basically if you have a video card from 4 years ago still...it will probably run just fine. There's a DirectX comparison over at IGN.
I'm on new medication. This time he has me on the generic of some other medication that I just can't seem to spell right. I think that the brand name starts with an A. No promises. I'll let you know what I think of the medication later this week.

- Just so you know there is now a Bejeweled 2 over at popcap games. If you were a fan of the origional or is you just get bored at work it's all there for you. They are donating some money to Child's Play when you buy it...cool.
- There's a patch out for Halo: Combat Evolved for the PC. This brings the PC version of Halo to version 1.06, Enjoy.
- The Nintendo DS Locator is now fully operational and rather helpful. If you're looking for a store that has a DS in the area just put in you info and jump in the car!
- This is pretty cool for some of you: it would seem that the wildly popular puzzle game Zoo Keeper is going to be a launch title for the DS. How awsome is that?
- It would seem that Penny-Arcade turned 6 yesterday. Everyone pop over there and wish them a happy birthday!
- For those of you who have ATI video cards and are all a-glow about Half-Life 2 there's a New beta driver out that is supposed to be tweaked to run well with HL2. Check it out if you want. The new driver is called Catalyst 4.12beta.
- Sid Meier's Pirates! has gone gold. You can expect it on the shelves soon.
- Have you ever wanted an N64 adapter for your gamecube? Nintendo's just checking. There was a poll on their front page asking how much you would be willing to pay. It's down now so there's no like.

There is Shit That Doesn't Stink...
Hey...this is a quickie. Nothing particularly of interest coming down the pipe so the news is gonna continue to collect until tomorrow. Tonight however I need to get my ass to sleep. I'm still really tired from the other night. I played a lot of Half-Life 2 tonight and if he doesn't mind I'm going to approximate a quote from Moen: (I stress approximate) "Yeah...I got to play it. It's amazing. It's going to be the game that gamers look to for comparison in the future. It's the new benchmark for gaming interactivity." Well...that's pretty close to what he said. And accurate to the letter or not, I agree completely. I feel no other reason to mention anything else about it tonight. Maybe I'll expound tomorrow if I get a lunch break.
Oh! I got to play with a DS today!! I'll have impressions about that tomorrow. And now that I think about it I have meetings all through lunch time tomorrow so I'll be updating after I get home...I'll try and do it before I hut the HL2...but no promises...

The Elite Gamers Make Better Pies
Hey everyone. Paper completed and in about an hour will be turned in! With any luck I'll then be on my way home to fire up Half-Life 2 (again...don't tell kelley!). Last night I played through a couple of sections basically with my mouth wide open. Within about 15-20 minutes of game time I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. It really felt like a real world. Anyway...if you want to see it and you didn't get it for yourself or you computer just can't hack it, just gimme a call...I'd be glad to show off what Twenty Black can do. Anyway...this is a news only day. I'm too far behind and I just don't have that much time left before class starts. Here you go.

- There's a BloodRayne 2 Demo over at 3dgamers. By the way...I hope you don't mind if I keep this short and sweet...thanks.
- A couple of patches have surfaced in that last couple of days. Go get 'em! Evil Genious 1.01 and Unreal Tournament 2004 version 3339.
- There was also a Catalyst unversal driver 4.11 release. This is for anyone with an ATI Radeon graphics card.
- In a bit of weird news, it would seem that today marks the 100th birthday of the of the vacuum tube. Pretty cool huh?
- Right before I went off the air there for a couple of days there were reports that both sony and Nintendo were going to have major troubles supplying enough PSP (sony) and DS (nintendo) systems for the respective launches. The NEW news is that it would seem that at this time Nintendo remains that only company willing to cater to their consumers. They react to the over 2 million pre-orders by puttin another factory online to meet production goals. Awsome.
- On a related note the Official Website for Super Mario 64 DS is now live. Man...It's pretty cool ta boot! That's definately going to be THE game for this holiday season.
- Last and obviously not least, Half-Life 2 has been released. If you downloaded it off Steam or bought it at the store it doesn't matter because as of midnight pacific time last night you can play the game in all it's glory. Get out there and experience what is easily the best looking game I have ever seen on any system to date. Thank you.

Hate to tell you guys this, but I have a paper that's due on Tuesday. It's not going well...to say the least. So this is a post to tell you that there's not going to be any posting until this paper is done, however I promise a post by at the latest Wednesday night. There are distinct possibilities that I'll have a post up tomorrow at work...but I don't know and I can't promise. This paper is really screwing up my schedule...even my work schedule. And I might have to skip off to school during my lunch hour to get a library card. Anyway...rambling aside. Get ready for Half-Life 2 to unlock on the 16th and there should be a Nintendo DS display at a Best Buy near you as we speak. If you get your hand on a DS in the next couple of days I would really appreciate it if you would post your impressions in the comments section of this post. Thanks guys....I'm typing this paper as fast as I can...I promise.

Cultural Diversity
I'm back. Sorry for missing the post yesterday. I'm sure none of you noticed. I just had a really busy day and just couldn't make this a priority. I tried...but some days people are more important. But anyway, just thought I would pop in here and do this real quick. I have a hand full of news and a couple of interesting things happened to me lately. Hummm...let's see...what are the most important things that I need to tell you all? How about this: I think that I am going to be a Reality Therapist. I know that sounds pretty odd to those of you who don't know what it means but I'll give you a quick overview. The theory basically holds that all people make decissions and that these choices determine their mood and their situation. On the surface this theory seems really mundane and obvious and maybe a little flawed. Well...it is a LITTLE flawed but I still like it, and since we're going to be expected to us integrated therapy in our actual practice it's really expected that you would pick a main theory and then build off of that with parts from other theories. I know it's really confusing but it's really exciting to me. It would seem that I have been using reality theory in my own life for a really long time. Then to find out that it's an actual theory and I didn't make it up like I thought I did was a real shocker and at the same time really invigorating. Anyway...boring Psych stuff...now on to personal drama!
I told my mother that I was moving out last night. The discussion that followed that announcement was the main reason why I didn't post yesterday. She's not very happy with me. She's kinda mad that I didn't want to move in with my sister but I kinda understand that. But she just doesn't understand that in the long run this is better for me. Anyway...she's still kinda miffed so I'm sure I 'll have to deal with that when I get home tonight. It's my dad's birthday today! He turns 54...so if you want to call him and wish him a happy birthday that would be cool and I'm sure he would appreciate it. Anyway...enough of this self-absorbed crap now it's time for the news! (Though some of it is old)

- There's a review for WarioWare Twisted! the new GBA title that's coming to the states here soon enough. It's basically a sequel to WarioWare and it looks just as good as the origional. Check it out.
- This is really something that I really wanted to post yesterday but I just didn't get the chance: It would seem that WinAmp is dead. I know this comes as a shock to some of you but we're just going to have to hang in there and dry those tears.
- Some of the people that are using Gmail are getting POP3 for free at this point in the beta. Let me know if you are getting this.
- It would seem that the Painkiller expansion has been delayed. I know this is going to upset at least one of you. Sorry to bring the news. "Don't shoot the messenger baby!"
- Marvel Comics is suing the makers of City of Heroes. I know this sounds absurd and...well...it is.
- Though their web design is seriously fucked up if you're using any browser that's based on Netscape, I really have taken a liking to Gamespot. And once again they please me with being the first big name online publisher to post a review of Metroid Prime 2. Thanks guys.
No games and no music. It was a sad day yesterday.

Refusing To Be Considered Immature
Hey everyone...as you might be able to tell from the title I'm not having a good day. Well...I take that back...I was actually having a good day despite staying at work late and everything. My mood was really up. But then...well...have you every had those days where everything was great when they should have been bad (namely work) and then when you get home to relax where everything should have been great the day just goes to shit. Yeah...having one of those. It's really not a big deal. I'll figure it out on my own. Just...aaaarrrrgh! Anyway...I appologize that you doing get any details. And this really isn't something that's going to matter by the time you read this so don't bother calling. I just needed to start the post this way.
Here are your bullets...no...no flare today:

Here are your bullets...no...no flare today:
- Teehee...there are nudie mags for gamers! Who knew?!
- There are new Forceware drivers out there for you people with Nvidia video cards. Bringing your drivers to version 66.93. Honestly...you would think they would have restarted the count at version 50 or something.
- It would seem that a couple of web people have started getting their Nintendo DS's and most of them have posted impressions and pictures. Here are the two Nintendo DS's hands on that I liked the best. DS retail impressions from Gamespot, and DS retail impressions from IGN. Enjoy! Oh...and just in case you we thinking about not clicking...they shed some light on a ton of stuff...it's very exciting!
- If you all didn't know by now then I'm going to tell ya. Halo 2 sold like rubbers this week. And everyone and their brother is giving it a perfect 10. Well...not everyone...but you get the idea. Just in case you're skeptical, or are like me and mostly just hate microsoft, then you should check out this pan of Halo 2 it's interesting and mostly funny. The other thing you should check out is the glaring bug report for Halo 2...ouch!
- It looks like this is a little late to be announcing this but I swear the date just went public today! Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines now has a ship date. November 16. That's right: Next week. Rejoice!
- And here's another quick date announcement and I'm outta here: Viewtiful Joe 2 is hitting the streets November 18. Enjoy!

Verification of Employment
Hey everyone. How are you all? I'm fine. Finished Blue Shift yesterday. It was pretty cool but suprisingly short. But that's actually a good thing in this situation. It's the first game that I've had the time to go through from beginning to end since I started working here. That's nice. Well...I take that back. I think I finished off Painkiller since I started working here. That was a pleasant experience as well. So basically I've been going around trying to finish off the games that have been causing me trouble lately. Namely Metroid Prime. I'm determined to finish that fucking game before the new one comes out next week. I have basically all of the pick ups, I'm just kinda stuck at the last boss. Not really stuck so much as frustrated beyond my ability to complete the game. I tried twice to beat her last night. Basically I just didn't have the extra patience to try more than that. Those marathon bosses really just piss me off, and the fact that the nearest save point ISN'T on her doorstep really doesn't help my frustration level either. It's not like she's hard...really...I'm just incredeble rusty with the control scheme and I don't think I have enough spare frustration points to spend on beating her at this time. Especially during the week. Maybe this weekend. On top of that I don't have a copy of Metroid:Fusion anymore so I'm not going to be able to get the fusion suit when I beat it. Oh well...I'll still have Mario Sunshine to play. Oh...and just so you know I'm in the party that feels that sunshine is a very good and well done game. It just gets hard and frustrating a little too often for me to go through and beat it all in one shot. Though because of my frustration with Prime I went in and got past a level(in Sunshine) that was causing real trouble. That cleared the way for a couple more shines. That's nice. Maybe that game will hold some more interest for me yet. It does still blow my mind how fun and good looking the games on my Cube are. Ah that felt good...!
Sorry about the topic for today. If you remember I really haven't talked about games in a really long time so I would say that it's ok for today :) I just need to dork out every once in a while and I figure I can do it here just as well as anyplace else.

- This is some pretty interesting news: It would seem that steam has updated yet again. Except this time the update is pretty cool. It adds a new feature to steam that lets you back up any of your games to a CD or DVD. Pretty cool huh? With no manual in the retail version of Half-Life 2 I have no idea why you wouldn't get HL2 through steam at this point. DVD version for the same price as the regular? Sign me up! Oh wait...I already have.
- It would seem that a lot of people got banned from Xbox Live yesterday. That kinda sucks. But then again, that's microsoft for ya!
- Mario so funny!
- This is a bit of a shocker. Warren Spector is leaving Ion Storm. I know this doesn't mean much to most of you but he played no small part in the making of the Thief series as well as Deus Ex. And now he's gone. All Mourn.
- And the day is finally here. Firefox version 1.0 has been released. The link that I provided is for an article announcing it's release on Gizmodo, but more importantly it has mirrors to the file. The homepage for firefox is getting ripped up. Use the mirrors.
- World of Warcraft Open Beta is really really open right now. You can get the free client from megagames and log onto the servers and do your part in trying to crash their servers. The open beta is considered a stress test for the servers so go crazy!

"It's Not You I'm Worried About..."
It's been a weird day. I didn't wake up on time. I really felt like crap and didn't even want to go to work today. I just really felt sick to my stomach but I knew that it was just drainage and I needed to get my shit together and get to work...so...'round about 9:15 I decided to get outta bed and do my thing. It's kinda funny the way that worked. I was basically sick and shouldn't have come in...but I did. I got to work an hour and forty-five minutes late and no one cared. Yup...no one even noticed. I didn't do any work this morning. I was just much too tired and not feeling well. I guess that's good for you guys because I was right on top of the news, but honestly there really isn't anything to report today of much importance. I'm dealing with day two of my decision to move out. We'll see how that goes over with my mom here in a couple of days.
Oh! I would like to personally thank a good friend of mine, Karin. You can find the link to her Blog on the sidebar. In one of her recent posts she mentioned the problems I have been having and made me realize that I'm really not the only one experiencing it. And then she put another spin on it that I didn't think about and it really helped me get the situation into perspective. Just wanted to thank her. Thanks Karin!
Other than that I've been hacking all day and not having a very good day. I'm really glad that I have a scheduled appointment this afternoon and don't really have to worry about my bench today. Anyway...let's get on with the news so I can get the hell outta here and end my fucking day at work! oi!

- There are a LOT of Halo 2 reviews out there today. I have read most of them. It would seem that the game is exceptionally good but still has it's flaws. I guess that's the way it works. Though I really think that a LOT of sites gave it a 10 of 10 when it really didn't seem like even they thought that it deserved one. That's gaming politics for you. I weeded out which one was the most rounded and didn't have any fear about talking about the negatives. Halo 2 review from Gamespot. And just for your edification the game goes on sale tonight at midnight at about 7,000 stores across America. Not that I care...I but know so of you do.
- It looks like the Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell expansion for the PC finally went gold. If you care.
- Now this is interesting and kinda caught me by suprise. It would seem that Trillian V3.0 is now in alpha. That's pretty cool. And guess what I found for you guys? I found a hands-on review of Trillian v3.0 for you guys. I hope you like it. It looked pretty interesting.
- EverQuest II goes on sale tomorrow. Yippie?

Deposit THIS Bitches!
Hey everyone...just thought I woulf jump in here throw you some personal news and then hit you with some dork news. But first the personal news...as always. Well...it looks like I'm finally getting the fuck outta my house. Yup! I signed a lease with Dan earlier this afternoon and we move into some camden apartments on the first of December. It should be really nice. There are about 6 apartments at the same street corner but we picked the one that doesn't look like there's going to be a drug dealer living next door. That should be nice. The apartment is pretty close to kelley. Pretty close to a 7/11 and pretty close to putt-putt but more importantly pretty close to the arcade INSIDE putt-putt! The rent is doable and all that so I'm really not worried. Actually I see my parent's reaction a little more troubling than anything else. I really think that my dad took it pretty hard. I don't think he was expecting me to move out so soon and god knows I haven't told my mom...who knows how she'll take it and I'm really not ready to tell her. Oi! Anyway..going to be a very strained week I have a feeling. But I'll feel a lot better when my parent's get behind me on this one. I'll really need their support to make this a smooth transition without any bitterness. So yeah...that's what happened today with me and I really hope my parents come around quickly...I just don't want to deal with their negativity. Anyway...I suppose that you are all getting your official house warming invite now. We should be doing something very soon after our finals. So be ready!

Ready for THIS!?
- This is news from late friday but it's still really badass. It would seem that a lot of companies are experimenting with the DS capabilities and it looks like that little piece of hardware is going to be totally badass in the not-to-distant-future. You REALLY have to read that tiny little article if you have any intention of getting a DS. We're talking web-browsing, interacting with PC's, VOIP, all kinds of badass stuff. I really can't wait!
- Dawn of War has hit version 1.10. Just in case any of you bought it. It was really cool when I played the demo so I suspect that SOMEONE that reads this might have the game.
- Planet GameCube has some hands on impression about the DS. It's a very thoughtful little read over there and definately worth checking out.
- The 7th phase of the Half-Life 2 preload has begun. And in other HL2 news: you can now download the Software Development Kit(SDK) for HL2 and start making mods!

Contraband
Ok...today is going to be a pretty standard saturday update. Moderate news left over from yesterday mixed in with a little opinion. Be ready though...this time I brought pictures. Click the Pictures to see the origional size.
This is a picture of Cait's Link outfit from halloween. It was pretty badass.
This is the top of my now crazy Gamecube. You can see the signatures of Wil Wheaton(along the right side), Scott Kurtz (middle bottom), and the two Penny-Arcade guys Gabe and Tycho. I'm very proud so please don't laugh.
Obviously this is Skull and Brent from PVP, drawn by the artist himself.
And finally Cole and Francis. They were also drawn by the artist himself. (Just so you guys know I can only spend so long fucking with the layout of a post. Therefore instead of trying to get this text to align to the right side I have just typed a bunch of bullshit and MADE it go to the right side...thank you...)
I'm really not trying to show off I just really thought that I would share. That's really all I had. It took me a really long time to figure out what I was doing and how to get the file sizes down and formatting and all that crap. I'll give you all the news and other updates tomorrow. Oh..and I don't seem to have any pictures of my Luigi costume available. I'm really sorry. Later gators!

Shocking and Influential
Just a quickie before the weekend starts and I get to leave work. If you didn't notice my activity on the net today has been pretty extensive this afternoon. Both my afternoon appointments canceled. Soooo....I took the time to read my new GameInformer that came last week and had the chance to update my links on the side bar. Please welcome Shacknews an offshoot of Fileshack that really seems to have a good handle on gaming news and updates frequently throughout the day. Give them a click! Say hello as well to the infamous Slashdot. I was pretty sure that you had all heard of it before so I hadn't put it up but then I realized that there was a very good chance that some of you hadn't heard of it at all. Slashdot is really good for news all around. The shit that slips through the cracks. There's a branch of Slashdot for everyone: Politics, Science, Gaming, Apple, Books and, believe it or not, many more! You should really check them out. Anyway...time to leave early. You can expect pictures of my gamecube this weekend and hopefully my luigi costume as well. Oh and don't forget the one on the chamber!

- An Official DS Website went online this morning. The whole site really promotes the "Touch!" idea of the DS. That makes menu navigation pretty interesting and kinda fun :) Your first stop should be the "connect tab" where they confirm that internet play is possible! Been waitin' for that one!!

I Think The Queers Say It Best in Track 2
Hey everyone. I know it's been a really weird week and I'm really sorry. Just having a little crisis over here but I think it's in its last day or so. I hope. I have just been feeling really nostalgic lately and a multitude of things caused it. Too many to get into right now. But to sum it all up I hung out with a couple of 16 year olds the other day. Yup! Basically I slipped back into highschool mode for about 2 hours. It was really nice. I actually had the more fun talking to them than I've had in a really long time. But then later on that evening and for the last couple of days I realized that all the things I said to them were true. All the things that I talked passionately about I'm actually passionate about. And basically seeing my passion reflected in their passion for the same subjects made me realize that my life is seriously missing something that I didn't know it was missing....Shared Passion. Now now...I'm not talking about sweaty bodies here...I'm just talking about passion. Getting the chance to talk for 2 hours in a complete state of excitement with another person or persons. Feeding off the people you are talking to and vice versa. Forgetting the time becuase of the topics of conversation. not caring about work or homework just so you can keep the conversation going. I...I haven't had a conversation like that in a really long time. Hell...before the other night I really can't remember the last time. I was just down about all that. And my inability to think of a solution to the situation. All my über-dork friends moved away and I just kind of felt like I was losing touch with myself. I wanted to have those conversations again. I wanted to get to talk with people that have the same passions that I do. But all the people around me just don't seem to have the same level of passion that I do about the same subjects. People are moving on. Getting caught up in work and school and significant others...frankly...becoming "adults". And I spent the week wrestling with my position on the situation. Was I an adult? Did I want to be an adult? What does it really mean to be an adult? I mean...I don't like the things that people consider "adult interests". I don't "party" or anything that implies. I'm not trying to build my empire through the stock market. I don't want to start a family. My whole life isn't caught up in the newspaper. I don't care about status quo. Shit...I'm just REALLY confused about my life and my future. Sorry...I'm really trying to get my thoughts out here so I can sit back and look at them and try and get a better idea of what the hell the solution might be. Are any of you being faced with this problem? I mean the "new friends" solution is basically out of the question. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find huge dorks that are also punk rockers? Easy? Ok...now try finding a huge dork who's a punk rocker AND doesn't drink or smoke....yeah...exactly. Do you see the problem yet? I haven't seen completely eye to eye with another person in a really long time....since college I guess...maybe before that. I don't remember. Anyway...basically I was missing all the fun that my life used to be full of. Now it's just full of work and school and pretending I'm someone I'm not. It's just no fun at all. I wish...nah...I have a thousand wishes and they aren't worth talking about. I'm not really depressed today so don't think I am. I'm actually in solution mode so my mind has been wandering all over the place trying to think of something that might be a solution to this. It's good to get this kinda shit out. And I really appreciate you all, I'm just being weird this week. That's all. Pay me no mind.

- There's ANOTHER big fix for Counter Strike: Source available. Turn on Steam to get it.
- This is pretty cool. It would seem that Half-Life 2 is going to be released at the exact same time all around the world. Simultaneously.
- Dude...it looks like the world of Judge Dread is coming to the REAL world...or at least the gun user recognition technology is. Awsome.
- This one is just kinda weird. It would seem that they can make DVD's out of corn starch. Interesting.
- There's a Painkiller Expansion trailer and a Sid Meier's Pirates! trailer over at 3dgamers.
- Ok...I know I posted some Nintendo promo trailers yesterday, but I hadn't seen them yet. I got home last night and watched them and man...if you didn't click on them yesterday you should really get down there and check them out. They are totally awsome. One is upcoming GameCube games and the other is upcoming DS games. The DS will now officially be on my christmas list because of this trailer.
- Mozilla released their newest version of Firefox yesterday. Go and update your Firefox to release canidate 2. If you have any problems just shoot me an email.
- Well well well...it looks like Mario Tennis for the GameCube is really kicking ass in Japan right now. It puts a smile on my face to know that Mario can still High-Five the number one space when he wants to.
- There's a teaser for the final Pixar/Disney collaboration over at Apple's site. Their final movie together is going to be called Cars.

I'm a Wart, a Big Fat Wart...of Worry...
Well...kelley finally calmed down. So you can all stop worrying. It would seem that her mom had a little (read big) freak out. Now...all I have to do is stop worrying about Cait. I can talk about it because I'm pretty sure she doesn't read this. She's left at home with her mom right in the middle of a big freak out. I really hope that she's doesn't get the brunt of that. But I'm pretty sure she will so I'll just sit here and worry until I hear that she's doing better :(

Hey everyone. I have to make this quick. I have a lot of news to give out and I really need to be at Kelley's five minutes ago for some damage control. Not good stuff people, but at least it's not my mess this time. Anyway...straight to the bullets. No nonsense.

- There are a couple of Videos that are all about upcoming games from nintendo...they are pretty cool...I won't lie.
- Screen shots of the Princess Peach Game just out.
- Ya know...I really liked Rare when they were on the N64. They made a lot of good games and I was really sad to see them go. But now...now I'm not sad...I actually can't stop laughing at Microsoft! HAHAHAHA!
- Dragon Quest is Big in Japan. This is a new trailer of the eighth edition of the game. It looks pretty cool and I kinda hope it comes to America...ya know...for the Cube.
- There's a demo for Flatout that just hit the streets. It's basically a racing game with realistic car damage and bodies that finally fly through the front windshield with ragdoll physics! Go try it out if that's you kind of thing.
- There's a backup feature planned for Steam that actually sounds pretty cool. If you have steam this article is pretty interesting.
- More about the Shortage of Nintendo DS's.
- There's dorky stuff in the world...but there is nothing more dorky than playing D&D...no...really.
- This is for my Mac people: Doom 3 is coming!
- Thunderbird the stand alone spam kicking email client just realeased version 0.9. You can find the download and any information here.
- IGN is just full of stuff today. There's a Scrapland Review over in the PC section, and a whole bunch of new information on some of the games coming out way on the DS.
- It looks like Mario Kart DS is coming our way MUCH sooner than previously expected. BADASS!
- New date and pricing information for World of Warcraft over at the official blizzard site. Looks like the game is gonna be here pretty soon and sadly looks like it's going to be subscription based. God? Will I ever get to play a good MMORPG and not have to pay through the nose on a monthly basis?
- And finally there's just been a new installment of the Hitman series announced, I could probably care less...but here's the link anyway.
- *update 11:14pm* It looks like the PA guys have posted a late post. In this post they have mentioned that there's a new Trailer for Star Wars Episode III. Well...a little later in the evening the link for the trailer was subsequently killed. But you're lucky I'm a resourceful guy because I found another place for the little thing. By the way...it looks pretty awsome.

Personal Anthems
Hey everyone. Ya know how I was kinda down the other day about something I really couldn't mention? Yeah...I'm down again. It's been an ok day though...but I have a lot of work to do and they have started firing people around here. Awsome. I don't really expect to be here much longer actually. I really think that I'm on their hit list and they are going to come by any minute now and let me go. So that really doesn't help my feelings at the moment. And my hands and feet are perpetually cold again. Awsome...I love you winter. I guess I'm just in a bad mood. Doesn't really help anything going on right now. Though I do have this uncanny ability to cheer up when other people are down, it really doesn't last forever. So I'm sure I'll feel like life is peachy keen as soon as I get over to kelley's. She's been throwing tantrums every afternoon because she can't stand to even be in her house. And frankly I'm just not really fit enough to deal with it completely. She wants me to be all missing her and stuff but man...when she has that attitude of just outright anger for seemingly NO reason...it's really hard to miss her. But that's just another thing that has me feeling bad...not the main one. Being incapable of missing your girlfriend considering the situation really is just the icing on the cake. Ugh...needless to say I have been using my dashboard as a confessional this afternoon and every evening home from kelley's house. Pooring my heart out to my stearing wheel and then just beltin' out Everclear songs over and over again. It's working a little but I don't think that they made enough good albums to get rid of what I'm dealing with. Watching Lost in Translation seemed to help...maybe I can rent it or buy it and try that one on for size. Oh! and I still have to watch Fifth Element. So there's hope yet I guess. Crap...I wish I could talk about it here...but I just can't no matter how I slice it. I kinda wish kelley read my blog...but no matter how hard I try and get her to read it she just doesn't seem to want to. She thinks it's stupid I guess. I don't know. But after this slightly bitter post I'm sure she would ask a lot of questions that I really didn't want her to ask...so I'll wait till this post gets a little further down the page before I try and talk her into reading again.
What I want to know today is this: what do you guys do as a ritual when you are feeling depressed? And album you listen to, a place you go, a person you talk to, a movie you watch? Anything? I would really like to know. I'm bustin' out the big guns for this one and I might need more help than Bruce Willis, Milla Jovavich and Everclear(the band...duh) can give me. I really do feel like I connect with that movie and those two albums. Something about surviving, risking it all for love, and going against the grain and doing what's right. Internal insperational monologues are all over Sparkle and Fade and So Much for The Afterflow. Let me give you two of my favorite examples of this: "You're posessed with a power bigger than the pain" and "Don't fall down now, you will never get up". Now I'm sure there are some fans out there that know the songs that these are from and KNOW that they can't possibly pertain to me and my life. Since the first is about sticking with who you love even though she's black, and the second is about the artist's struggle with addiction, you would probably be right. They don't pertain directly to my life. But those words and the conviction that he says them with are really just inspiring for me. I just sit there in the car listening to those songs over and over again. Hearing the stories of all those people that didn't make it in the real world and knowing that someone made it out alive (the artist) really makes me a little more humble about my situation. I don't know again...I didn't get much sleep last night either so I'm sure there's some kind of influence on my post for today by my lack of sleep. On that note...sorry guys...I'll stop...

- There's another steam update available. Just turn on steam and it will update automatically.
- There isn't going to be a manual for Half-Life 2. Isn't that weird? I thought so.
- There is a rumor that's relatively well founded that there is going to be a shortage of Nintendo DS's available. All the info is in the link.
- There's a new Sonic Mega Collection Plus available now. If you like sonic it is evidently carrying around just about every game in the sonic old-school library in it's pocket.
- There's an interesting set of articles being mentioned over at Slashdot. Some guy has taken it upon himself to review all three versions of the Starwars trilogy and compare them all scene by scene. Really interesting if I do say so.
- Well well well...what do we have here. It would seem that the battery life that Sony estimated for the PSP was mostly bunk. I find this news totally awsome.
- It would seem that the election is truly over at this time. The challenger called in his conceding statement to the president. oh well...so much for America. If this was a "What if...?" comic this would probably be different.

Diamond in the *RUFF!*
Hey everyone...hope you had the chance to vote. I know I have been slacking the last couple of days with the content of my posts. But I'm going to take what little time I have left in my day to welcome any newcomers from over seas! and for ANYONE who might be logging in right now from over on the WEST SIDE of town. Please don't laugh at my weblog...I know it looks pathetic. Any suggestions would be appreciated. anyway...I have been missing bullets for a couple of days. Got a little backed up. Please ignore this post if you are visiting for the first time...its usually not this disjointed and I promise tomorrow will be more interesting...so don't forget to come back!
BULLETS!
Music in my car as we speak: Blümchen still...I don't know...I just don't feel like changing it. Why would I when I can sing at the top of my lungs and feel like a real German techno-pop star? Exactly.

BULLETS!
- The PS3 and the XBOX2 are going to have the same processor and approximately the same hardware layout. All I have to say is: Wow...no suprise there. Here's the origional link.
- Nintendo is cracking down on some company that has been producing Nintendo games inside N64 contollers without a license. Origional.
- There's a Silent Hill 3 PC demo over at File Shack. If you are interested you know what to do.
- Half-Life 2 is coming to Arcades in Japan! Isn't that one of the strangest things you have ever heard? IGN reported on it first...if you can believe that.
- There is a World of Warcraft open beta starting for all File Planet Subscribers. Subscriptions start at about 7.90USD if you are interested.
- There's a new Pariah Trailer over at IGN. This game has some real potential...you should check it out.
- I know this will come as no shock to most of you...but keep in mind that I'm behind in my news: Resident Evil 4 is no longer a Nintendo Exclusive. It's coming to the PS2 as well. Fucking Capcom and their "exclusives".
- There is a game that recently got Un-canceled for the GameCube...it looks like the most fun and interesting game I've seen in a long time. It's called Chibi Robo.

Coin Flip, Acid Trip
Hey...believe it or not the post is going to be more important than the news today and since I don't have that much time to talk you can probably expect the news to come either later today or tomorrow. On with the show.
Have you ever wanted something so bad you could actually taste it? Feel it in your heart? Feel it in your hand? Have you ever wanted something that bad? I'm not just talking about objects. I'm talking about dream jobs, dream locations to live, dream friends, anything. Well did you get it? Good for you...but let's say you didn't get it. Let's say that it would be impossible to get without throwing away everything that makes you happy and taking a giant leap of faith. No way to insure if you're going to get what it is that you're leaping for. As a matter of fact before hand you KNOW that it's actually extremely unlikely to get what it is you want. But you can still taste it. You can still see it in your mind. You can imagine what it would be like if you had it and having it is the best you have ever felt in your life. Think about that for a minute. Feel what it is that you want. Know you can never have it. Try that. It kinda hurts inside doesn't it. Hurts right in the center of your chest. Or maybe puts a lump in your throat. That's what I want you all to think about today. Think about the potential for ultimate happiness and then think about the greatest cost for that happiness. Would you do it? Would you throw your life off your sholders like an old jacket and run for that cliff? Would you? Could you? I don't know the answer myself. I just wanted to talk about it.
What put this into my head? I'm not quite sure...but I think it was Lost in Translation. I have seen it a couple of times and I really like it. I think it's just about the loneliest movie I have ever seen in my life. I was in a contemplative state when I caught the last 20 minutes of it last night and the unheard things that Bill Murray says to the chick at the very end really stuck with me. Was he taking that leap? Was he arranging to meet her back in the states? Or was he just informing her that he's going to do the "right" thing and stick with the status quo. I don't know. I really don't know. They obviously had something special and his life back at home was obviously stagnating. It's just a really sad movie for me and that last scene and the expressions on the faces really stuck with me this time. Anyway...just wanted to talk about it a little. See what you guys think. But I would REALLY prefer that you thought about how the above paragraph pertains to your life and please don't relate it to Lost in Translation. I know that something like this has happened to everyone out there and I just wanted to know what you though. Thanks guys...I don't think I got enough sleep last night and thinking about deep and sappy bullshit is just what I do when that happens. I 've been a lump at work all morning with nothing to do but think about this. Anyway. Enjoy the exercise in personal pain and loss.
Music in my car as we speak: Ditto...yeah...I REALLY like that album(Herzfrequenz). But on days like this I really prefer Everclear so I'm sure that will show up on tomorrow's post.
